Chapmans Peak sunrise Hike
After such a lovely sunrise hike up Lions Head on Thursday we felt that we should attempt Chapmans Peak on the Saturday morning. The weather forecast on Thursday indicated a perfect day with sunny skies but as we headed over Constantia Nek, dark stormy clouds surrounded us, with rain and wind reminding us of mother nature.
We pressed on and stopped over at one of the lookouts while we waited for James and Rory. Unfortunately they had to turn back as they were not equipped for the weather. Of course we were not going to let the weather get the better of us and fortunately the rain stayed away for the duration of the hike.
We managed to get a good view of Houtbay and the golden glow of the not yet risen sun before the clouds enveloped us. Again in record time of 45min we ascended Chapmans Peak while taking various breaks.
This was Inky's first time and unfortunately instead of seeing panormaic vista's of the Cape Flats, Hout Bay and Noordhoek and Kommetjie all we got to see was clouds :).
I had made some tea so we were warmed up with two cups of tea each and nuts (courtesy of Inky). After chatting for a while we headed down passing one lonely hard-core trail runner (with a "puffer" shirt on). On the way home we stopped off in Noordhoek village and bought some yummy croissants!
