Two years ago I rode the Argus Cycle Tour Twice to raise money for the Masikulisane Crèche in Samora Machel. The money has gone far, but the number of Aids affected children has increased, and they are looking for funding to expand the facilities. So bring on the Platteklip Charity Challenge 2009!!! What it is: From Sunrise to Sunset, see how many time you can run up Platteklip Gorge, across to the Cable Car Station, catch a lift down (take these 10minutes to recover), run back to the base of the Gorge, and repeat... The numbers: The event will take place on the 18th April 2009. Each lap is 5,5km Platteklip Gorge is a 2,1km route ascending approx 760m There are about 800 double size steps up the Gorge. 50 mad people will be taking part. We aim to raise R500,000! How you can help: Sponsor me!!! I'm aiming for 5 summits, but will do what I can to get a 6th in on the day... Volunteer your time. The organisers could do with some help manning water points, etc. So if you want to participate, but don't fancy running up and down Table Mountain all day, come and spend a few hours making sure we don't dehydrate.
